Tips For Holiday Shopping

Tips For Holiday Shopping
It's that time of the year again where our bank accounts shrink and the presents under our trees grow.  I know that the sales have come and gone, but hopefully this gives you some ideas for next year! I love holiday shopping and as I've gotten older I have learned a thing or two when it comes to shopping on a budget.  There's no reason that you should be spending thousands of dollars on simple items, unless you have money like that then go for it.  However, if you're like me and have to spend every dollar wisely, then let me help you out a bit.

One. Wait For The Sale //  I know this is so hard for some people, because once you have an idea in mind you just want to get it.  However, if you're patient and can wait until Blank Friday or Cyber Monday- I promise you you'll spend a lot less.  I'm not even saying wake up at 2 a.m. to buy something on Black Friday.  Just be patient, browse the mall see what you can find and if you can't find something in store, it will be online.  I did about 80% of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday and spent less than $150 and walked away with SO much.  Cyber Monday I got the rest of things that I couldn't find in stores and it was well worth the wait- trust me!

Two.  Start Early //  I had started buying some of my gifts a month or two ago.  Very slowly I would see things that I knew wouldn't be around for long and I had to get now.  Then when it came time to making my list I was like "Oh, I already have this or that for these people."  Another thing I did was shop on Wish which is a very discounted online/app where you can buy great quality things for very cheap.  They're constantly doing sales and deals (use my discount code: kblkcdh for 50% your next purchase) so you can always get good things for cheap.  However, these products take weeks, sometimes months, to come in.  Order early!  I placed my Wish order in the beginning of November and I received everything by the beginning of December.  Each year Omar and I get each other a football jersey for our rival teams.  Except this year... Philadelphia is doing pretty well.  I just knew I had to buy his jersey early before the prices went up.  I was so right because shortly after I ordered it, I saw that Carson Wentz is the #1 selling jersey in America and I checked on Black Friday and they weren't having any deals on jerseys.  I was SO happy I bought this one early!

Three.  E-mails //  I know, I know.  It's so annoying to be constantly getting emails around the holidays.  However, I purposely signed up for e-mail subscriptions just for the coupons!  I used e-mail coupons at Ulta, Spencer's, Hot Topic, Nike, and Colourpop.  Let me tell you, I'm happy I did.  Plus, you can just unsubscribe from after you make your purchase.  Another thing to do, is if your profile is asking for your birthday, say your birthday is today.  Especially if it's not a store you shop from often, that way you get a birthday coupon on top of the sales that are happening already.

Four.  Compare Prices //  I must have looked up the SAME product on multiple different websites.  Just to compare prices.  I kept things in my cart for weeks  waiting for Black Friday and Cyber Monday to see who would have the better deal.  Sometimes it was Amazon, sometimes it was Target.  You just don't know so keep an eye out and compare!

Five.  Walk Around With It //  I've done this trick for years.  Even when I shop for myself.  It's the same idea as keeping something in your cart for a while.  If I see something I like at a store and throw it in my cart, I will walk around with it until I can decide if it's a good purchase or not.  I can't tell you how many items I've picked up and put down on Black Friday.  I think something is cute, it's on sale, but is it really worth it?  I usually end up finding something better and liking it more anyways.  Same idea for if you're online shopping.  Don't just buy it because it's on sale.  That money could be put towards a better and more thoughtful gift in the long run!
